>I was part of an unincorporated fraternity of sorts in college. And perhaps that is a good thing as I would not want that to conflict with other interests. But this one was not a service oriented group, perhaps brotherhood would be a better word. (Does anyone know where ‘Thi’ is anyway? Ah, the lost founder.) I digress….
At any rate this brother has a good place in my heart (among all those brothers. Who I count it a privilege that they permitted me to be their friends in whatever form it is.) and a unique distinction. I think that every major spiritual ‘event’ in my college career (with the exception of the Martin Luther Small Catechism moment which is held solely by wife Theresa) he was present for. Be it the ‘the sun is shining…the chiefs won’t win the super bowl….therefore there is no God’ brotha on Wescoe Beach, or the late night we’re going to flunk the Arch History exam but there is a God study session in the NSBE room, to an emotional reality check in Gates. I mean the pop vs. soda debate has actually become a part of my ministry today. Franks is a type of brotha who if I was on the mission field I would want to be there with me. And there are a number of reasons:
1. Franks will read everything about a culture and tell them who they are better than they could…and probably be right.
2. Franks is going to argue. And passionately with absolutely no ad hoc attacks. When I think of Acts 17:16-34 I think of Franks.
3. Franks would use any excuse to get that sorry excuse for a marching band exposure…..(I’m sorry but I had to say it. And for you other St. Louis folks who read the blog I don’t want to hear about it on Sunday. Marching band is wack and its POP.)
That said most importantly I believe that when it comes to things about truth…eternal truth in particular, the brotha has something to say. I am certain you will find the same thing to be true.
